Domino Jukebox Hustler EP OUT NOW

Domino's brand new 4 tracker EP is out now at Beatport

Here's a little bit about the EP:

Last year we brought you freshfaced producer Domino's debut release, Skinstripper, along with a funky mix from Groove Diggerz, he's been busy in the studio since and the fruit of his labours is now here, the Jukebox Hustler EP, a perfect mix between the funky and darker sides of Domino's production. The EP kicks off with Dirty Mind, a funky breaks workout with live brass and vocals, a demo of this track was what originally attracted Ground Level to sign him! Next up we have Pay Me, a collaboration with 21 Grams, on the darker side of breaks, with a rumbling dirty bassline and screeching leads! Circuit Child takes things down the electro-breaks tip, with funky as hell drum fills and a catchy hook! Domino gets his trumpet out and hooks up with 21 Grams once again for Your A Star, another trip down the funky side of breaks, perfectly bridging the gap between warmup and peaktime! All these tracks have been floortested to the max by the Ground Level team and work a treat! This EP shows that Domino is one to watch on the breaks scene!

Here's what everyone's saying about it:

"All these top stuff. Loving Pay me especially" - Greg Churchill (Underwater)

"4 Solid Tracks" - Hexadecimal

"Dirty Mind- sounds like Norman Cook swallowed the blue pill and mounted a hippo its that fat n funky!" Audio Tsunami

"nice and varied stuff on this release" - Kickflip

Shopliftas bring the shade to Ground Level!

We're very proud to announce that the next release on Ground Level is by Australia / New Zealand's shopliftas, with the Nasty in the Shade EP! Nasty In The Shade kicks off the release, a solid breaker with a catchy hook and solid sub bass, all brought together by huge drums. With a mixdown by none other than Bass Kleph, there's no wonder this track goes off on a big system!

On the flip, In Effect takes a more electro house feel, with a reverse string line and stabs leading into a fat wobbler of a bassline, making the package a perfect all rounder for fans of both breaks and house.

The release is already getting props from some of breaks' top names:

"Played the new track at all 3 gigs and it fuckin rocks" - DJ Icey

"this tune is super DOPE" - Keith MacKenzie

"Nasty In The Shade is a perfect 5am track, while In Effect provides a bit more of a low slung groover..." - Kickflip

The track will be available in the UK from 12th January 2009, we'll have some very limited test pressings from next week, keep your eyes peeled on the shop!

There's some soundclips on the myspace to wet your appetite!

Skinstripper Out NOW!!!

Our seventh release on Ground Level is out now, with the debut release of Domino's Skinstripper with a rather tasty remix from Groove Diggerz. Vinyl available in the store now, and for MP3 check Beatport:

https://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/content/release/detail/136520/skinstripper

About Skinstripper:

Ground Level are proud to present for their 7th release, brand new artist DOMINO with his debut single SKINSTRIPPER. The original features a dark yet funky driving bassline, with a female vocal hook weaving in and out, a track focused on groove and getting the dancefloor moving with clever drops and builds. On the flip GROOVE DIGGERZ take the track, drop the bpm, and make it a progressive builder, with elements appearing gradually until suddenly the bassline kicks for maximum dancefloor impact.

About Domino:

Domino began in the mid nineties playing jungle and drum and bass around the London party scene, then went on to complete an Audio Music Technology degree where he bumped into VIGI and NECTARIOS who helped to introduce him to the sound that is breakbeat. Working alongside DJ HAZE in 2002 he began to hone his breaks production where they wrote their first track RAMBO WHIP which was to be released on I-LECTRIC. Since then he has worked as a solo artist recently coming second in STEPSINES remix competition, organized through nuskoolbreaks.co.uk, resulting in an album track release. Domino's track SKINSTRIPPER is being supported by many DJ's including BREAK THE BOX, MAELSTROM and MR NO HANDS. Domino has been the cause of much talk on the ‘up and coming’ breaks scene and has earned respect from high fliers such as CUT LA ROC. Domino draws his sound from a Drum and Bass perspective fusing jungle roots with Nu-Skool Breaks.

Two new releases and one coming up...

July was a busy month for Ground Level, with our first birthday celebrations in London and Derby, and two new releases for you to get down to...

Stylus Rex - Surge

Surge is a moody techy house track, with breakbeat stylings, and a massively catchy hookline, which has already been destroying the floors since it's inception.  On the flip Nine Lives The Cat turns this track into a peaktime dancefloor anthem with a HUGE bassline and old school breakdown, yet keeping the funk throughout like only he

can!

Break the Box - Groovy Moves 2008 Remixes

Last December we released Break the Box's Groovy Moves, with a killer remix from Plaza De Funk! This has proved to be the most succesful release on Ground level so far, with the vinyl even going to repress! Now, as the final stage in our first birthday celebrations we have three brand new remixes of the track, once again by Italian artists making a pentagon of Italian breaks goodness!

The remixes are by Doc Trashz, Scapo and Lanoia all bringing a different take to the track, and are available exclusively on Beatport, please check them out!

New Artists, New Release plus much much more:

Things have been very busy here at Ground Level manors of late, and we have a lot of new things in the pipeline.

First off we have signed two brand new artists, Scapo and Doc Trashz, both from Italy. After these guys turned in some very tasty remixes of 'Groovy Moves' by Break the Box, we asked them for some of their original tracks, which where top quality floor filling booty shaking stompers (and we're not getting over excited here!), so we signed them both up!

Doc Trashz also dropped into the conversation that he's the Italian ITC scratch champion, so expect some top quality scratches on future Ground Level releases. The first you'll be able to hear of these guys will be their Groovy Moves remixes which come out as part of the digital release of the single, exclusively through Beatport, in July to celebrate the label's first birthday!

First birthday I hear you say, already!?!

Yes in July last year we sent our first ever release out to the wolves, Serious Wobble by Stylus Rex, and haven't looked back since. We'll be holding several events to celebrate this milestone, including a party at Bar Vinyl in London, and the launch of our new flagship night in Derby (see above), at which there will be all manor of Ground Level goodies to get your hands on. It's our birthday, but we give YOU presents, that's how nice we are!

In our birthday month we will be releasing our 6th single, once again by Stylus Rex, a track called Surge. The original is a moody techy electro house number, which wouldn't sound out of place if there where a few robotic cars dancing to it in an advert. On the flip side, the awesomely talented Nine Lives the Cat rips it up and turns it into a peaktime breaks stormer, every time this one has been played out their have been near fatalities due to the sheer amount of fatness in one tune!

After that, new kid Domino brings us his debut release Dirty Mind, a funky as hell breaks bouncer, which will be complimented by tasty remix from our favourite Germans the Boogie Army. We're just itching to hear what they've done to it, as soon as we've got it, you'll be

le to hear it here first.

And there's more, a collaboration between Stylus Rex and JDS, a new Break the Box track, more Domino fatness and our first compilation CD, which should hit shelves in Quarter 4. This CD will be like no other, because as well as the best of our past releases, current gems and future burners, the artists on the label are busy remixing each other!

What will Break the Box's version of We're Here to Rock sound like, or Domino's relicking of Serious Wobble??? Tasty things in store!

16th May 2008

Ground Level (finally) has a new home in Derby...

We've had a few months off from running a home town gig in Derby since the closure of the Glasshouse in January, mainly cause we didn't think anywhere was good enough really. But what we reckon is the best venue in the city has reopened, and Ground Level nights kick off again monthly starting in June!

The venue is called the Vaults and does what it says on the tin, it's an underground vault in the city centre! It looks like this...

The Vaults - Derby

It being a vault, and us being Ground Level it's only natural to call the night...

underGROUND

The new nights will be hosted by Andy McAllister and Rhythm Rebels, with Ground Level artists such as Stylus Rex, Domino and Break the Box putting in appearances, as well as many of the great DJs we had on at the Glasshouse.

Launch night on June 27th 2008, more on that in the events section!
