Andy McAllister
Andy has been DJing for over 10 years, originally in his native Scotland and for the last 8 years in Derby. His style has been described as bridging the gap between breaks and house, providing the funk factor alongside dirty basslines and fat beats. This has seen Andy play at many clubs around the country alongside Dr Alex Patterson (the Orb), Stanton Warriors, Hybrid, Vandal and Pete Jordan.
He is resident at Spectrum in Nottingham and the Glasshouse in Derby. Outside of DJing, Andy runs Ground Level, a breaks and electro label with releases and remixes forthcoming from Stylus Rex, Dirty D, Frakah, Maelstrom and Groove Allegiance and of course from Andy himself. In his sets you will hear original productions and cheeky re-edits keeping the music fresh and upfront.
Andy is also a professional drummer, touring with bands across the UK, and having played in Holland, Germany, France, USA and Norway, and plays with Nottingham based outfit Black Vinyl Heart.
2006 saw Andy launch his own night Ground Level at the Glasshouse in Derby, the night has quickly grown a great reputation for good music and a nice atmosphere, and has received praise from DJ magazine and IDJ.
Over the year Hexadecimal, Slackshot, Darft Phunk, JDS, PlazadeFunk and Jay Cunning have graced the decks at the night, and there are many more great nights planned!
2006 also saw Andy DJing in Nottingham, Glasgow, London and Ibiza and having three featured guest mixes on ibreaks.
