Ground Level - The Record Label

Ground Level a Derby based record label providing breaks, funk and electro sounds. Artists on the label include Stylus Rex, Break the Box, Darft Phunk, Andy McAllister and Domino.

Established this time last year, we hit the ground running, launching as a vinyl and digital label, seeing it fit to support vinyl as well as allowing digital DJs to get a piece of the action. Our first release Serious Wobble by Stylus Rex was praised by all the dance music press, helped by a killer remix from the French wonderkid that is Maelstrom, who’s remix was number two in trackitdown.net’s charts for over 4 weeks!

We then released ’We’re Here to Rock’ by Darft Phunk and Andy McAllister, on a funkier flavour with a remix coming from Grand Def Audio, which received praise from the likes of Ali B, Groove Allegiance, Cut La Roc and Slyde.

In December, to finish the year, we released ’Groovy Moves’ by Break the Box, and to complete the package commissioned a killer remix from Plaza De Funk (who could use your vote for best DJ), making it an all italian release. This track’s had plays and praise from NAPT, DJ Icey, General Midi and Future Funk Squad.

2008 started for us with Cops on Coke by Stylus Rex being released in Feburary, with a remix from Welsh wonderboy Strider, gaining top reviews again from DJ Mag (5/5), IDJ (4/5) and Mixmag (4/5).

We’ve got plenty more planned for 2008

with new releases and remixes from Stylus Rex, Break the Box, new kid Domino, Strider, Nine Lives the Cat and Andy McAllister, and our first CD compilation is planned for launch in the summer.
